Ekamai International School (EIS) is a private Christian school operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Mission in Thailand.  Its curriculum is based on the the American system of education, and English is the medium of instruction.

 

Accreditation - For more than fifty years the school has provided English education to its students.  In 1992, EIS earned international status from the Thai government and later earned accreditation status from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in Burlingame, California, U.S.A.  It is also accredited by the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventists (AAA) in Maryland, U.S.A.  Currently twenty-three countries are represented in the student body.  The majority of students are Thai.  The school considers its strong point to be its emphasis on good conduct, character development, and the teachers' care for students.  As a Seventh-day Adventist Christian International School, EIS places great emphasis on the role of spiritual values in the personal lives of its students.

 

Curriculum - Ekamai International School follows an American Seventh-Day Adventist curriculum with Thai Language and culture instruction provided. To meet the academic needs of its international students, it offers 5 study programs that are equivalent to the Ministry of Education M6 Certificate-General Diploma, College Prep Diploma, College Prep Diploma (Medicine), College Prep Diploma (Engineering), And College Prep Diploma (Business). Co-curricular activities include sports, Chinese and Japanese language classes, band, choir, and clubs.

EIS student wins the International School Music Challenge and the 31st Thailand’s Five Zone Singing Competition PDF Print E-mail

EIS senior, Smith Wararatchai is having a very successful year impressing judges and audiences alike with his extraordinary talent in music. “When Smith sings, you can just feel the strong emotion flowing out of him. His voice is so great that the hair on your arms stand up and you can just tell that he is singing from his heart,” one audience member said.

 

Smith recently won the International School of Music Challenge 2010 on Friday, February 19.This is only the most recent of his awards. In December, Smith Wararatchai, won 2nd place in the category of English songs and 3rd place for the category of Thai songs in the “31st Thailand’s Five Zone Singing Competition” on December 27, 2009.  The singers came from the five regions of Thailand and Smith represented the middle zone.  The competition was quite stiff because there were about 100 contestants with 5 rounds before the final. The five finalists were sent to a training camp where they had to train from 7 am to 9 pm and had a concert every night.
