In a continuing response to ever-evolving educational and operational needs, Ekamai International School conducted disaster preparedness training for its faculty and staff on October 6, 2023, at the Student Center of Building with Dr. Nick Walters, a medical doctor from Bangkok Adventist Hospital as the resource speaker.

This professional development upgrade was organized to educate the EIS community on effectively planning, responding to, and recovering from various disasters or emergencies. It aims to enhance the ability of the EIS faculty and staff to mitigate the impact of disasters, illnesses, and other eventualities, thereby saving lives, protecting property, and minimizing the disruption caused by such occurrences.

Among those who attended were the primary and elementary sections teachers, teacher assistants, and nannies. Other attendees included campus supervisors, security guards, clinic staff, and other frontline staff.

Four key topics were cascaded to the participants during the training: Respiratory Infections, Dengue Prevention, Common School Injuries, and Disaster Preparedness. Methods and ways to mitigate the same were likewise discussed.

“As a Christian Adventist institution, we are unique among others because we have a God that we can run to for help in whatever disaster we encounter,” conveyed Dr. Nick as he wrapped up his presentation, encouraging the participants to pray during emergencies.
