The EIS volleyball varsity team won the silver medal and trophy of the Asia International Schools Athletics Association U19 volleyball held on November 22, 2020 at the EIS covered court. Flames, bested Concordian International School and Kis International School in the Pool B section leading them to the finals against Wells International School’s Seahawks who won over Berkeley International School, American School of Bangkok, and Thai Christian International School.
It was a bittersweet victory for the Flames amidst the shortest preparation and practice due to the Covid restrictions currently being observed by the school.
“We had only about four practice sessions in preparation for this tournament and nothing more,” said Chaedtha Saksksrinarang, a former member of flame while he was in EIS but now a coach of the team.
Despite their inability to train longer, Flames strength was its towering blocks of Yodsawat Pongvatrangsri and Tham Thammanoonkul and wise play through its spiker Djem Kurt Gagatam and Jirapat Taweesin.
The powerful Seahawks of Wells International School took home the gold trophy and medal while Thai Christian International School and Kis International School came in third and fourth place respectively.
Congratulations, Flames! We are so proud of you.
